Can Taking Bupropion To Quit Smoking Lead To Foul-smelling Urine?

Posted on Thu, 26 Oct 2017
Question: Yes, I am taking bupropion to stop smoking. So far, it has worked well and I am a non-smoker. However, my urine smells terrible! I am also taking nifedipine and guanfacine for hypertension. These last two are new to me, so could they also contribute to smelly urine?

Brief Answer:
There is possibility of bad smelling to urine due to medications .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted you have noticed bad smelling to urine since you have started taking Nifedipine and Guanfacine .

There is every possibility of these drugs being cause for bad smelling to your urine as they are excreted through urine ,However the possibility of UTI has to be ruled out by doing Routine urine test and Urine culture .

If you have few days to have appointment with your Dr can start taking antibiotic like Cefixime and Nitroduantoin twice daily .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
