Can The Usage Of Lisinopril Cause Elevated Creatinine Levels?
ACE inhibitors cause elevated creatinine
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You are very right. ACE inhibitors will cause elevation in creatinine and also potassium levels. Once you have elevations due to an ACE then you need to be taken off the ACE and placed on different medications. I will usually switch people from an ACE to an ARB or angiotensin receptor blocker. these medications are second generation ACE that do not have the side effects and elevation problems seen with ACE. Names of ARBs are losartan, irebsartan and valsartan to name a few.
I recommend that you discuss this with your provider and see if you would be a candidate to switch to an ARB
