Can Whey Protein And Creatine Be Used While On ACE Inhibitor?

default
Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: I have been diagnosed with HF, EF of 40-45% after a CABGx3. I had an EF of 65% previous to the CABG so obviously I probably made a mistake having the CABG done....but my question is, I left weights and I am currently on an ACE inhibitor and other BP meds, can I still use Whey Protein and more importantly Creatine ?

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

First of all I would like to know the exact time of intervention. If you have done it recently (within the last three months), in some cases the ejection fraction and heart function may improve within one year.

Secondly, my advice is that you shouldn't use Whey protein, because it will increase the risk of arrhythmia and bleeding, putting your life in great risk.

Thirdly my advice is to use creatine it will increase muscle strength and will improve your exercise capability making you feel better.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

I uploaded my latest Echo from this past week. I had an issue with shortness of breath and they put me in the hospital for 2 days and gave me Lasix. I was told that I have a part of my heart in the Left Vent that is not working. I was told that this was due to an issue when the surgeon placed the artery onto a diseased vessel area.

Before my CABG I had a very good working heart, not I am in CHF??? Seriously this is not acceptable practice. I dont think the idea is to make someone in a death watch.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Unfortunately for you, the reduction of ejection failure and heart failure may be a complication of surgery. You have a slightly reduced ejection fraction and a mild heart failure which is responsible for dyspnea.

However for a better judgment of your case I would like to have a look on your angiography, cardiac echo (before surgery) and intervention reports.

This will help to judge if what has happened is a complication of surgery or a surgeon mistake. Can you please upload the requested data for me?

I'm waiting for the requested data to be uploaded!
