Cause For Non Raised White Spots On Back?
Detailed history with picture is needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to healthcare magic.
As per your short query we can not reach to a conclusive point. We need a detailed history and preferably if you can attach a photograph, so that we can help you better.
Even then white spots on back can be generally due to three main reasons:
1. Fungal infection : this is a special type of fungus which typically causes whitish spots on the back which is known as Pityriasis versicolor. It is completely curable situation and can be successfully treated by antifungal treatment.
2. Post inflammatory hypopigmentation: It is due to simple whitish discoloration remaining after any type of mild inflammatory process on any area of body. On back it can be after mild sun burn or due nonspecific reasons whee after completion of the mild inflammatory process, there remains the white spots. There is no need of any type of treatment for the same and the spots vanishes by itself.
3. Vitiligo: This also known as white spot disease. It forms ivory white spots over the affected areas. Other than back there can be different areas of body are affected. It needs a long term proper treatment.
All of these are asymptomatic conditions and so better possibility can be judged by history including time period since the lesions are present, any previous history, any history of aggravating factor mode of appearance or any preceding problem on the back.
