Child Passes Urine Frequently, Has Difficulty In Holding It. Suggestions?
Question: My daughter is 4 years old.
She has to go to pass urine very frequently, she can't hold it and many a times her panty is little wet . Though she visits bathroom very often, we need to change her panty 5-6 times a day.
Please suggest, what to do.

Can you tell me since how long this is happening?
Does she complain of burning sensation while passing urine?
Does she have any urgency?
Is there any history of fever?
If this complaint is of short duration then this is suggestive of urine culture and sensitivity will help in confirming the diagnosis.
Antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor are required. Increasing the water intake is important.

To answer to your queries,
-She is having this since last 5-6 months. Few times, She complains of itching at area between buttocks not close to urinary tract.
-She had fever 4-5 times since birth, but no history of having fever often.
- She feels an urgency to go to toilet. she cant hold, she almost sits wherever she is for few seconds, then only she can walk to the toilet.
- never complained of burning while passing urine.
- Also surprisingly, she never passes urine while sleeping, no matter how long she is sleeping. no bed wetting at all.

To start with you should get a urine routine examination along with culture and sensitivity. This will rule out blood sugar test is also required.
If every thing turns out to be normal then further investigations including a ultrasound abdomen and urologist consultation may be required to arrive at a diagnosis. Hope the worm infestation is treated properly as that also some time presents with such similar complaints.
