Child With Constipation. Got Relief After Taking Looz Syrup. Missed Bowel Movement And Vomited. Worried
It would also have been useful to me if you could mention the child's weight, routine diet and feeding in last 1 year and any issues with development.
Constipation is often a problem with milk dominant diet and often it is due to casein and phosphates. By the time constipation manifests, the problem has its roots almost 6-8 months back when the diet/ feeds may have changed.
Whatever may be the reason, it needs treatment. Some cases like Hirshsprung Colon are rare, but often that gets missed by overlooking a long standing constipation.
When the stools block the colon, the medicines given by mouth may not always help as they may not be able to break hard stools at bottom. So syrups like looze may only be able to help in acute issues just to tide crisis over 1-2 days; surely its long term course tends to fail.
Such children are often put through series of enemas with or without drug under medical supervision; often with suppositories to evacuate the bowel; but if dietary modification is not made; all may get failure.
So please detail the diet; keep off stool hardening diets like tonics, milk, pomegranate, XXXXXXX strawberries, daals(classically toor daal) for at least 3 months till doctor helps you with periodic enemas to evacuate the bowel.
I hope this answers your concerns, do write back if any issues further.
Regards

With given details… my answer won't change much but I will surely stress on getting rid of top milk over next month by introducing rice flour based kheers… avoid dhalia… replace by suji and soupos… get a hemoglobin test with counts done that may help assess anemia…
Ask your doctor to consider domperidone for vomiting and also to consider rectal suppositories… remember enema and suppository should be painless otherwise method is likely to be wrong…
Follow back after 2 weeks of dietary changes.thanks
