Developed Breathing Problem After Delivery. How To Solve This Problem?
My wife was pregnant and delivered the baby boy on july 9th 2012.
But after that she developed the breathing problem which is the cause of worry how to solve this breathing problem of my wife
She is breast feeding the baby also
Thanks for writing.
The breathing problem of your wife can be due to several reasons.
The most common cause indirectly related to her delivery is Anemia (low hemoglobin).
Anemia can present with difficult breathing, weakness, fatigue and swelling over the body.
The other problems which could lead to breathlessness are cardiac diseases and lung problems.
Also it is important to know if she has breathless on rest or exertion.
If breathlessness is exacerbated after exposure to some allergen or change in climate, it could be due to asthma.
To solve the problem, you need to take your wife to a chest specialist.
This is because a complete examination is necessary to make a diagnosis along with tests as per the examination findings.
Since she is breast feeding, she should take good care of herself in terms of nutrition.
The requirements of the body increase when breast feeding. So if they are not met by additional intake then it can lead to deficiencies most common being anemia.

Thanks for writing back.
Mild breathlessness is normal in the 9th month. This occurs because the big size of baby and uterus pushes the diaphragm upwards causing breathlessness.
If the breathlessness was associated with palpitations, swelling over body, cough and sweating then it can be an indication of cardiac disease.
Also Mild anemia before delivery can present as breathlessness which can get severe after delivery. This is because delivery is associated with blood loss and if anemic, the normal amount of blood loss can also deteriorate a female.
So you can repeat her hemoglobin levels to look for anemia. If normal you need to see a chest specialist for proper evaluation and treatment. A chest X-ray may be required.
I hope I have answered your query.
Take care.
