Diabetic. Suggest Medication?
Metformin is commonly used
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I see that your blood sugar level is at 190 for the last 4 months.
This alone is not sufficient to make a diagnosis of Diabetes in you. You need to undergo the following tests.
1. Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) should be more than 126mg/dl
2. Post Prandial Blood Sugar (PPBS) should be more than 200mg/dl
3. Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1C) should be more than 6.5
4. Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) should be more than 200.
Only when these criteria are met, we can say that you are diabetic.
I suggest you to get these tests done first.
As far the medicine is concerned, Metformin is the most commonly used drug in the treatment of Diabetes. The starting dose would be 500mg. This is a prescription drug. Your doctor can prescribe you this after confirming the diabetic state in you.
Wish you good health.
