Thanks for replying. I ll ask him and let you know by tonight.
he had digestion problem and Stomach bloating problem since long time . But 2 years ago because of the high fever he was admitted in a local hospital . blood platelets counts went down to 60,000. there they couldn't find out the problem. After a while a doctor in Gastroenterlogy research institute found out and they did blood test. My dad is telling me that in bilirubin levels, gamma was hight . and abdomen scan was done . Finally they did HEPA SCAN . my dad is saying test result is 75% of 250 or 230 something . I ll try to get the reports and upload it later .
he is taking ursodeoxycholic acid 300mg tablets . And about the HEPA TEST he is telling that 75% of 230 liver cells has cirrhosis

Hi,
Cirrhosis is condition in which the liver is damaged and shrunken.
There are many causes of cirrhosis like chronic alcohol intake , Chronic Hepatitis B and C infection.
Increased Gamma GT could be due to alcohol intake ( if he is consuming alcohol).
Kindly get tests done for hepatitis B and C.
An upper GI endoscopy may be done to look for complications of cirrhosis like varices.
Consult a gastroenterologist for the tests.
I hope that answers your question.

He stopped taking alcohol since he got sick . he used to take more alcohol when he was in 20's after that he used to drink occasionally. Doctor dint tell him the cause of liver cirrhosis. regarding Gamma level he told me it is related to bilirubin . What is the heap test result 75% out of 230 means.
after stated taking pills he became normal for few days and again his abdomen is swollen now. Doctor advised him to take those pills and come back once swollen abdomen become normal. He is taking more of liquids as food. and he is taking food without salt , chili powder . what steps do he need to take to make is abdomen normal ? will these pills(Ursodeoxycholic acid) help him as Doctor told him ?
he cosulted three gastroenterlogy specialists , everybody has advised him to take pills.
is liver transplantation is necessary ? In case of liver transplantation , how much its gonna cost approximately ? and which hospital is the best for that ? do we have to wait long time to find liver needed to be transplanted with ?

Hi,
I dont know what he meant by 75% of 230.
If it is cirrhosis, UDCA may not be helpful.
As mentioned earlier, blood tests for hepatitis B and C should be done.
The swollen abdomen could be due to collection of fluid. Salt restriction and diuretics ( pills that cause increased urination) would help to reduce the distension.
Liver transplantation is the only definitive treatment. But a transplant is not readily available. You can consult doctors from Global Hospitals about liver transplant as they have got very good liver transplant surgeons.
I hope that answers your question.
