Do Nifedipine, Atorvastatin, Ranitidine And Valsartan Act As Blood Thinners?
Question: I'm having surgery in a few weeks and was notified that I had to stop taking any medications that contained blood thinners 10 days before. The meds I am on are Nifedipine, Glyburide, Atorvastatin, Ranitidine, Valsartan, and Carvedilol. I think I spelled then correctly, I hope so anyway. Would you be so kind as to advise me which meds to discontinue for that period? Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I read carefully your query.
You need to stop Glypiride a day before the surgery or just don't take it the day of surgery.
Valsartan should be discontinued 1 day (18-24 h before surgery).Just don't take it the day of the surgery.
Nifedipine,Ranitidine ,Atorvastatin ,Carvedilol can be taken up to and including the day of the surgery.
Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.
