Do Statins Cause Diabetes?
Question: If I stop taking a station will my type 2 diabetis go away? No prior history of diabetis in my family. Believe I got it by taking Zocor

Statins do not cause diabetes. They are prescribed for high cholesterol levels so as to protect the heart and blood vessels. Stopping statins would only make complications related to diabetes more likely to occur than not.
Family history is not the cause of diabetes but persons with family history of diabetes are at increased risk. It does not mean that if you do not have a family history, you would not have diabetes. It starts somewhere and many persons do not know whether someone in the family has it or not.
In all, stopping statins would only increase your chances of having possible complications and would not help with the diabetes.
