Do Interactions Between Plaquenil And Crestor Cause Tingling Feet And Legs?

Question: I am taking plaquenil for sjorgrens syndrome but also crestor for high cholesterol. On it for about 7 years. Now I feel tingling in my feet and lower legs. Is this due to meds interactions or not?

This may be due to some other reason. It may be due to sequential diabetic peripheral neuropathy (if you are diabetic), may be due to hypertension complications, may be simply the nerve demyelination. But why not go for a trial and change the medicine as your doctor was suggesting you. He has the whole clinical scenario of you case with past history too. Consult your treating physician for alternatives if not contraindicated or if you are not allergic too.

Also ask your physician for vit. B12 shots. It sometimes is due solely to B12 deficiency. Also rule out diabetes, thyroid profile and hypertension.

what exactly is nerve demyelination? I know that I do not have diabetes, and my blood pressure is normal.

Nerves have a myelin sheath on them just as insulating sheath on household electric wires. It is to allow fast communication of electrical impulses and signals in the nerve. If somehow this covering or coating is removed, the nerves can't work properly and in perfect way. Here comes the symptoms felt by the patients like deranged feelings of touch, temperature and vibration to the skin and also there may be muscle weakness.
