Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Are you referring to that this happened to you or to a woman you know?

Also, is the person this happened to on any medications, and if so, which ones?

And if it is referring to you (a physiological male), do you have any signs of breast development?

Thanks - will respond after hearing back.

Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello -

If she was lactating and her nipples were exuding milk, you would most likely see that. The risk when there is no anal or vaginal contact with the penis is generally low. The particular scenario you described has not been studied specifically. If there was no breast milk, then I would not be concerned.

I thought you might like to see a summary article of what is known about different modes of sexual transmission for HIV. It won't "link" (blue) so please copy and paste it into your address bar.

I hope this information helps.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, HIV does not live when bodily secretions it is in are dried or outside the body.

The nipple would not be producing anything other than oil or sweat. So no worries.

Hi xxx,

No, HIV cannot be transmitted by sweat.

I would not be concerned about what you described with the nipples/breasts.

Questions

Detailed Answer:
If you squeezed and nothing came out of the nipple, what fluid would that be? It does not sound like she appeared to have an unhealthy breast from breast diseases. Non-lactating healthy women do not have fluid that comes from their breast.

Then this would be like contacting any other skin of the body. There wouldn't be anything coming out that would get inside the urethra.

thank you doctor for reassuarance that no fluid comes out of nipples and enter the urethra?

Answered by Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh (5 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
The urethra is where HIV would predominantly enter the penis during vaginal or anal intercourse.

And no, there isn't fluid that is released from women's nipples anymore than from men's nipples unless they have been lactating.
