Do Statins Interact With Cinnamon Supplements?

default
Posted on Wed, 16 Nov 2016
Question: I understand that Ceylon cinnamon can reduce blood sugar levels. There was one case reported where a person contracted liver disease and the doctor said it was caused by a combination of a statin drug and Cinnamon supplements.

Can cinnamon supplements lower blood sugar? Is the one isolated case with liver disease allegedly caused by cinnamon supplements together with a statin drug conclusive evidence that a person should avoid cinnamon while on a statin drug? Thank you.

kTo my knowledge there is no known interaction between statin and cinnamon. Although I have not come across the report you are referring to , it is still not enough to make a categorical conclusion of this type
