Do Steroids Cause Shutdown Of HPG System?
I want to understand more about a past treatment i had. It was short course of weak steroid to gain height. Ive since discovered that taking steroids can cause shutdown of hpg system, and studies show this to be true even in children.
But some other studies i read suggest in children, it actually has opposite effect of shutdown. It actually matures the system...although this maturation is apparant after stopping the treatment . So im little bit confused which to believe. Please help
need specific details
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
I am glad to see your query again.
To answer you specifically, I would require certain specific details from you. Please answer the below queries:
1. How long ago was the past treatment? What was your age at the time of treatment?
2. What was the weak steroid that was given to you? Is it stanozolol or any other anabolic steroid? Please let me know the actual name of the steroid used.
3. What was the duration of treatment?
Coming to your queries:
1. Steroids cannot completely shut down the HPG system. This is the case in most patients, be it children or adults.
2. They partially help in maturation of the system, more so in children.
Believe this part, that the steroids do not shutdown the HPG system.
To answers your queries in detail, I would like the above details from you.
Until then, take care and wish you good health.
Regards,
My age was 14.5 years old, and duration was for 3 months. it was 2.5mg daily oxandrolone to boost my height only.
At the time , i was physically examined and told that i was in 'very early' puberty.
Ive since discovered that any steroid given to boy in puberty can cause central puberty to progress just. My problem with this is the subsequent higher 'mature' levels of gonadal testosterone would inevitably bind to AR receptors in various tissue - and this wouldve been 'the first time'. This upsets me greatly.
What is the deal with Ar receptors...are they expressed in all the tissues they are supposed to be expressed even in a baby ?
Thanks and Regards
XXXX
not necessarily
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
The AR receptors need not necessarily be expressed in all the tissues. Definitely, they are not active in a baby.
The AR receptor and the hormone become more active and productive only in the later stages, and not in a baby.
Since you have taken oxandrolone for a mere 3 months, I am sure the effects would have worn out by now. Definitely, it cannot act this longer.
You must let go about thinking of it, and move on.
I am sure the effects cannot long this longer.
Take care!
