Question: Hi Doctor,

My wife is feeing vomiting sensation and tiredness, she was supposed to have her periods 2 days back, but she didn't get her monthly.

We did the home pregnancy test and it was negative. She is feeling chills when she feels like vomiting/ some sensation to throw up.

Anything to be worried about?
No fever.

I've gone through your details.
I am Dr Kumar and would be addressing your concerns.


See most likely periods have nothing to do with her gastric problem and its just a matter of coincidence.
Her symptoms are suggestive of gastroenteritis.
Its infection of gut which causes the intestinal muscles to swell up causing nausea,vomiting and mild to moderate indigestion.
Most of the time this is caused by taking contaminated food.
Nothing at all to worry just follow the medications suggested by me for 3 days.
However she would start feeling much better after single dose.


Tab A pack(Azithromycin) 500mg once a day(Anti bacterial)
Tab Metronidazole 400mg thrice daily(Anti protozoal)
Tab Zofran 4mg thrice daily(Anti emetic).

Follow this for 3 days.

Give her very light food like Rice and curd.
Probiotic sachets can be taken twice daily.
Ask her to sip water and juices every 30 minutes to prevent dehydration from vomiting.
