Does Alendronate Cause High BP?
Question: MY MOTHER IS TAKING A DRUG CALLED ALENDRONATE SODIUM 70 MG AND SHE NOTICED HER BLOOD PRESSURE IS 195/95 AND PLUSE RATE IS 73 CAN THIS CAUSE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
Brief Answer:
Hypertension , not due to alendronate
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Alendronate 70 mg is weekly dose, i hope she is taking it weekly and not daily. Regarding blood pressure i want you to know that it is a separate entity and not associated with alendronate. Your mother is hypertensive and that could be a pretty serious gamechanger and lead to stroke and intra cerebral bleed. Get her to ER so that they can bring the systolic pressure down. Followed by which she will need compliant dose of antihypertensives.
I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
