Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: I took 2mg of Ativan 20 hours ago, I also took 30mg of Oxycodone 4 hours ago, 60mg of Cymbalta 2 hours ago and I am wondering when it would be safe to take my Ativan again? I am tapereing off of the Ativan by lowering it .5mg every three days, when I tried just stopping it all at once I begin to feel very sick. Also I am having a pretty bad panic attack now so it would help greatly.

Brief Answer:
Immediately if you have panic attack

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing again at Healthcaremagic.

I am glad to know that you are tapering down ativan for last few days.

Regarding your question about next dose I the ideal time for another one is 24 hours from the last dose. The half life of Ativan extends upto 20 hours and so there will be no problem if you repeat your dose after 24 hours.

In case the symptoms of panic attack are building rapidly it can be taken immediately as the half life of Ativan is 20 hours.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

Both Oxycodone and ativan are in therapeutic dose range and unlikely to cause overdose for any healthy individual.

In addition both the molecules act on different receptors so the minimizing possibility of overdose.

I hope this clarifies.
Thanks and regards.

Thank you very much, everything I read online said it would kill me. Would it be okay for me to take 1mg of Ativan now and another in 3 hours(24 hours since my last dose) if i need it? sometimes 1mg is enough

Brief Answer:
Yes it can be done

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

In my view this rational decision to take the one mg and wait for three hours to see the effect and take another dose only f necessary. In this way the sedation problem will be minimized and 1 mg is enough on many instances to control the symptoms of panic attack.

I hope this clarifies further.
Thanks and regards.
