Brief Answer:
No major issues reported
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal, MD
i have read your query and am going to try to help you with it.
Atorvastatin is not supposed to have an effect on the heart rate, atrial fibrillation. the cholesterol benefits are definitely there, and as the cholesterol goes down the blood pressure usually goes down.
Also, personally in my patients, I avoid giving the medicine for a long time. Once the levels are normal, i prefer to stop the drug. And then simply monitor the lipid profile. If needed, it may be restarted. But if not needed, why give the patient a medicine that is not needed.?
I hope that helps.

Agree. Thanks. But DOES it sometimes have such an effect even if it isn't "supposed to".? Or do you suspect of it of such? Seems every time I turn around lately atorvastatin is being accused anecdotally of something- blood sugar, accelerating CHF, whatever. Is it reasonable to look at it as a factor in a worsening echo result?
Brief Answer:
side effect profile is compared to advantages
Detailed Answer:
I would definitely not suspect worsening of the echocardiography.
As for the side effect profile of the medicine, yes, there are side effects. But every medicine has side effects. And as I said, I prefer to cut off medicines as soon as possible.
It depends how much your levels are. You see for any medicine, the side effect profile has to be compared to the advantage it offers.
best of luck
