![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Do seropram (citalopram) cause memory loss?
I am taking seropram the last 6 months because i used to suffer from panic attacks and anxiety dizziness. However, the last 2 months i realised that i keep forgetting things all the time and i have very bad concentration. My memory suddenly got so bad that it made me very concerned. I am 26 years old and I don't have any alzheimer or serious diseases running in my family.

Brief Answer:
can cause memory impairment.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.
Citalopram and other SSRIs (and almost all antidepressants) does cause memory impairment on long term use.
In my opinion, 6 months is enough time for citalopram to cause impairment in concentration. I suppose your forgetfulness is secondary to impaired concentration.
I would suggest you to try and keep your dose to minimum possible (after discussing with your doctor).
Practice deep breathing and meditation. This will improve your concentration and memory.
Hope this helps.
I wish you well.
Thanks.
