Difficulty in calculation may arise due to many reasons. Stress bring the most common offender. In elderly, it may arise as a result of clot in the brain. Getting an MRI BRAIN scan is not a bad idea. Please stay stress free, take proper sleep, address one question at a time without worrying about your intelligence or ability to do calculation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Abhishek Juneja, Neurologist
