Does Entocort Interact With Furosemide?
Question: I take entocort ec 3mg for lymphocytic colitis. I recently started a Rx for furosemide 20mg and my diarrhea seems to have returned. Do these go together?

Brief Answer:
Stop frusemide and shift on to thiazide group.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM.
Enticort contains Budesonide.
Its an steroid and used to treat colitis.
Frusemide is a diuretic and usually is used in patients with congestive cardiac failure to provide relief from edema.
As such it has no interaction with budesonide neither does it aggravates coilitis.
However frusemide contains sulpha group and some patients are sensitive to this drug. This sensitivity can manifest itself in form of loose stools also.
So as your diarrhea is directly related to intake of frusemide i would suggest you to stop this drug and ask your primary to shift you on thiazide diuretics.
Follow ups are welcome!
