Does Hytrin Cause Orthostatic Hypotension?
Question: Hi. I have a small supply of 2 mg hytrin that I took previously. I have bph with my prostate and just took two hytrin caps (4 mg. total) to hopefully midigate my prostate problems tonight. I just read it is recommended to start a regimen with only 1 mg then increase dose gradually. What is my danger of hypotension??
Brief Answer:
No danger of hypotension if you keep still.
Detailed Answer:
Good day and thank you for being with healthcare magic!!!
Hytrin causes orthostatic hypotension meaning that there may be a drop in blood pressure during sudden head changes (from lying to sitting or sitting to standing).
Taking 4 mg instead of the usual 2 mg may make the dizziness more pronounced but I don't think it would be a problem if your already lying down and sleeping. The hypotension only happens on changes in head position.
