Does Lexapro Interact With Klonopin, Solian And Sulpiride?
I am now on Lexapro 15 mg, Klonopin 3 mg, Keppra 1000 mg, Solian (amisulpride) 100 mg and Sulpiride 25 mg. My psychiatrist added Sulpiride 25 mg to avoid the dopaminergic effects of Solian at 100 mg. I would like to know how long it takes to Sulpiride to work. I was before during one month on Solian 25 mg and back to Solian 100 mg three weeks ago. I feel some improvement since one week ago (i have a "fixation" with open windows of cars in the streets) but it's not clear to understand if it is Solian working or the beginning of Sulpiride. I was told here that Sulpiride takes 2 weeks to work, so please if possible confirm me this information.
Thanks, XXXXXXX
Amisulpiride and Sulpiride both are antipsychotics.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for asking from HCM
I can understand your concern. If we consider Amisulpiride and Sulpiride then both drugs belong to same group of antipsychotics but have different actions especially on Dopamine receptors. Amisulpiride in most cases in low doses acts on presynaptic DA receptors and thus have dopaminergic actions while in high doses it shows antidopaminergic effects by acting on post synaptic receptors. This effect in not seen in Sulpiride and as you have mentioned also this is the reason they have added Sulpiride to your prescription.
In usual cases the drug takes 2-4 weeks time to show its effects, so yes you are told right, the drug will take about 2 weeks to work.
Thanks.
