Does Marijuana Cause Panic Attacks?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jan 2016
Question: Hi,

The last 3 or 4 days I have smoked weed (one big hit per day) using a metal bowl but with a hollow Bic pen as the stem. It occurred to me this could be dangerous and so I did some looking around and found it could be toxic. I them had what I now think was a panic attack, shallow breathing, dizziness etc.

I am now fine but my throat and lungs feel a little sore. Clearly I will not be using this setup again (frankly the fear I had yesterday has put me in a good mind to stop altogether) - however, are there any health consequences of this I should be concerned about? I have no symptoms beyond the above and did not note the pen actually melting from the heat.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, thanks for your question to HCM.

This is highly dangerous. There are metals and toxic elements in ink, and plastic when melted even in small degrees has carcinogens in it. Do not do this again.

Marijuana itself induces panic attacks in many people. This is one of the many dangerous effects of marijuana.

I recommend abstinence from marijuana as it appears you are susceptible to its anxiety-inducing effects.

Thank you for your answer.

Are there any other actions you would recommend I take now? Or am I safe to assume I am not in any immediate danger?
