How To Treat Tightness Of Chest After Recovering From Anesthesia?
HI Doctor At the end of March I had a laparoscopy done to remove kidney stones from my left kidney. This was performed under general anaesthetic. After recovering from the anaesthetic , I felt a tightness in my chest and had very shallow breathing, which I ignored at that time and it did not trouble me much thereafter. On Monday , I travelled by plane and started getting the tightness in my chest again and battled to breathe. Since then I have this contstant pain and tightness in my chest. I have had a cough syrup with expectorant and bronchodilator , and also Nozer tabs to try to relieve this but it does not seem to help. Please can you assist.
It is totally normal to feel this way after anesthesia, take following measures: - Stay calm and relaxed, anxiety worsens it - Practice deep breathing exercises - Sit up or elevate your upper body - Remember that it is temporary and will go away on its own by taking these medications
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Fahum Akhter, General & Family Physician
