Brief Answer:
There are interactions between the medications and X-calibur

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
ThankYou for trusting HealthcareMagic

Since you are taking Metformin, Tribulus Terrestris and Panax Ginseng present in X-calibur might decrease your blood sugars to dangerously low levels.

Panax Ginseng present in X calibur, also interacts with sertraline and bupropion, increasing serotonin levels in your body resulting in high blood pressure, breathing difficulty, anxiety etc.

Moreover, X-calibur can also affect the ability of the liver to metabolize medications like clonazepam, Sertraline, and disulfiram., thereby causing increased stress to your liver.
X-calibur, when taken along with alcohol, can lower your blood pressure.

I looked at the contents of Xcalibur online and it is also mentioned that it contains more ingredients than listed on the label. It is rather unsafe to take the supplement without knowing the full list of what it contains and potential side effects/interactions.

I strongly recommend that taking the supplement has potential risks and interactions with medications you are on, and it is ideal to avoid the supplement.

If you are considering taking the supplement for sexual issues, I would like to add that the sexual side effects can be due to sertraline. The sexual side effects are reversed once sertraline is discontinued. Please follow up with your treating physician to see if discontinuing/decreasing dose of sertraline is right for you.

Hope I was able to answer your question

What if I cut the dosage down from 3 tablets to say 1, or 2 every other day? My concern is that ED meds such as Viagra & Cialis, etc, also show side effects and aren't always effective.

Brief Answer:
No data/research available showing that taking reduced doses is safe

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you following up

As you rightly mentioned, Erectile dysfunction can be due to several conditions like decreased testosterone levels especially with advancing age, atherosclerosis of blood vessels leading to decreased blood supply, neurological problems including diabetic neuropathy, certain medications or psychological issues.
Detailed history, physical examination, and investigations are required to come to a definite diagnosis.
Since you are already on sertraline, the most likely cause could be due to medication and it is worth seeing if discontinuing/decreasing dose of sertraline can help with your symptoms. That being said, do not discontinue sertraline on your own without consulting with your treating physician as there is risk of relapse of depression and mood symptoms with discontinuation of sertraline.

Regarding X-calibur, there is no data/research available showing that taking reduced doses will prevent side effects or drug interactions. As I had mentioned earlier, it is better to avoid taking such supplements.
But If you decide on taking X-calibur, I'd recommend that you follow up with Primary care provider regularly to monitor blood sugar levels, blood pressure and liver function tests.

Please be advised to consult your treating physician for further evaluation and investigations to diagnose the exact cause of erectile dysfunction and to discuss the role of sertraline as a cause for your symptom.

Hope I was able to help you
Please follow up if you need further clarification

Dr.Lekshmi
