Does Paroxetine Increase The Risks Of Birth Defects In A Foetus?
Paroxetine can increase risk of birth defects
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Paxep is Paroxetine and is a SSRI drug. The drug should be preferably avoided in pregnancy especially during first trimester. The drug can increase risk of birth defects mainly congenital heart defects, persistent pulmonary hypertension, autism, mental retardation in developing foetus. If SSRIs are needed then Sertraline is considered as safest out of all SSRIs in pregnancy.
Lamitor is considered as relatively safer in pregnancy and can be given as per prescription.
Zapiz too in SOS basis will not cause any serious adverse effects, no need to worry.
Thanks, Take care

Hello thanks for asking again
These drugs are not safe in pregnancy, though risk-benefit is judged by psychiatrists. For depressive symptoms ask her to consult a psychiatrist. Quetipin at 12.5 mg will not cause much effects on developing foetus and will help in sleep. Bupropion too should be avoided.
Drugs like Sertraline can be used. Sertraline is considered as safest of all antidepressants for use in pregnancy. Please talk to her doctor and ask for prescription of the drug. With time her depression will improve.
Thanks. Take care
