Does Prednisolone Cause Back Pain?

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Mar 2014
Question: Hello...my son is 26 years old and had Crohns since age 14. Also had two surgeries (2000 & 2005). First was a great success. Second was for an adhesion, however, adhesion returned immediately after (surgeon suspected stitches tore inside). On Friday he had a scope done. Due to severe inflammation and the adhesion that we knew about 8 years prior, his specialist put him on Prednisone 50 mg. to start weening 5 days later. He started it Sunday. He also twisted his back Sunday playing with his daughter. I have three questions: He says that by evening, or especially when he first wakes up, the pain in back is terrible. 1) Could the prednisone be causing any of the pain, or 2) due to it fading in dosage by evening & upon wakening, he just feels the back more? 3) He says he is noticing a difference already after only two doses of prednisone...fully formed stool, and only passing stool once or twice per day. Can prednisone reduce the inflammation that quickly?
