Does Prednisone Interact With BP Medicines?

Question: My husband just took 60 milligrams of predisone to control itching that just began. He also takes liquid and propose one for afib. Is tree a problem with these drug interactions? YYYY@YYYY
Brief Answer:
Considerations
Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
There should not be a significant interaction with prednisone and medication taken for hypertension or to control atrial fibrillation.
I would encourage him to continue to follow up with his doctor to try to find out why he has this itching. Sometimes a tapering course of prednisone is needed where the prednisone is taking over number of days with gradual lowering of the dose.
If you have the names of the specific medications that he takes I will be happy to review those for possible interactions but at this point I do not see anypotential problems.
Thank you again for sending the question.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga

Thank you for your assurances. We will certainly follow up on your suggestion to find the true source of the itching. My main concern was possible negatives...he takes eliquis and trameyrene and benazepril in addition to the med for afib. I am now assuming there is no immediate danger.
