Does Risperidone Cause Hallucinations And Blurred Vision
Question: I began taking Risperidone in the past week and have had two episodes of visual hallucinations at night in bed while I'm awake. Obviously, this is concerning to me. I have never experienced this before with any other drug. I am using Risperidone for depression in conjunction with two other drugs I have used for a long time. I am only taking a small dose of Risperidone (.5). What would you recommend I do? Is this a common symptom? XXXXXXX H.
Brief Answer:
Very rarely can cause hallucinations, blurred vision is common side effect
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM
I have gone through your query.
In my practice, I have not come across a patient on resperidone, presenting with visual hallucinations. Literature suggest that very rarely it can produce visual hallucination ( mechanism not known) individual.
Drug can cause blurred vision, I am not sure if you might have had this.
I would suggest you to continue the drug as scheduled and observe, if again you experience such an episode, I would suggest you to see consulting doctor for examination and if required change of the agent.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
