Does Spetra Help In Treating Parautheral Infection?

Question: I had to switch off cipro because of oral thrush is septra just as affective at treating a parautheral infection? Also could the infection be caused by yeast?

Spetra is sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim and is commonly used to treat UTIs. it may have some coverage for urethral gland infection but ciprofloxacin is is better.

Yeasts and fungus can also infect the para urethral glands and is usually treated with doxycycline.

Could i continue talking the cipro even if i have oral thrush ? I am on 10 days of nystatin oral rinse. I took the cipro this morning but the septra tonight. Could i continue taking the cipro and take one tonight too ? Thank you for your help. This is so frusterating

Are you sure you got the thrush because of the ciprofloxacin ? unless stated by your doctor , I would continue with the ciprofloxacin and nystatin oral wash. Don't take the Septra and ciprofloxacin together.

The doctor told me to switch but it was at the walk in clinic and i havent seen him before. I was also on metronizole before the cipro. Maybe that caused the trush. I already took a septra tonight but i want the best chance at cureing a XXXXXXX gland infection. Should i wait until tomorrow and carry on with the cipro ?

Yes wait until the next day to take the ciprofloxacin and complete the dose of the ciprofloxacin. Also continue the oral thrush gargle so that the candida infection doesn't get worse.

How long should ir rakw the swelling of my slenes glands to go down? I have bin on the cipro fir a week and my symtoms havent improved ? Is ir posdible im on the wrong antibiotoc

you should be able to feel some relief by now. If the Skene's gland is still inflamed then a urologist might need to take a look at it. There might already be an abscess formation and it needs to be drained. A pelvic MRI would be able to help us determine and see what is really going on in your urethra. Regards, Manuel C. I am on the waiting list to see a ureologist but apparently it can tale up to 6 months. Is there anyway it would take more than a week for the gland to go down ? Should i continue taking the antibiotocs ?

Yes I would suggest to finish the course of Ciprofloxacin for one month while waiting to see a urologist. An anti-inflammatory drug can also help like celecoxib or diclofenac to relieve the inflammation and the pain.

Yes it is possible in the absence of infection.

For prostatitis there is such as a thing as inflamed prostate in the absence of bacteria. Being the homologue of the Skene's gland then i would assume that it is also possible for the Skene's gland.

Abacterial inflammation is treated by NSAIDs use.
