Does Velix Shot Help In Treating Severe Chest Pain?

My fateher had a severe chest pain yesterday and had admitted in the hospital. The cardiac doctor told us that the heart is topped and when given a stent the heart beat was restored and told us that he needs to give an injection called Velix which reduces the blood viscosity and free flow of blood to the heart and he needs to be kept in ICU for 48 hours.I just wanted to know if this is the correct treatment and what needs to be done further. Please let me know.He takes Cinod tablet for BP and lipvas 10 mg for cholesterol.
Yes the treatment is appropriate. Regards Dr Priyank Mody
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
In most probability your brother had a myocardial infarction or heart attack as we know it .
Some answers to your concern .
1) NO change in BP medication doesn't not increase the viscosity of the blood
2) As you must have reached withen 3-6 hours of chest pain onset , velix which is a clot busting injection must have been given . Justified in his case and that will restore the blood supply .
I think there is incomplete information on stent , which is another way of restoring blood supply to the heart by removing the clot and putting a stent . The decision about which is then after an angiography. However velix and stent at same time is not generally practised .
3) Yes Inspite of having all routine test he still can get an attack , because TMT checks for critical blockages more than 70 % which would have less supply of blood to the muscle when he exercise . Now the attack is generally in lesser severe plaques 30-40% once which rupture during any stress event causing a clot to form over it and closing the artery 100 % .
4) The treatment and icu observation is proper , and he would require blood thinner , beta blocker , medicine for blood pressure and increase the dosage of lipivas to 80 mg.
Let me know about his progress, echocardiography report and medications on discharge so I can guide you further.
Hoping I could help.

When he had attack he had suddenly collapsed and got injured at the chin and got injured and there is blood from his ear.We had CT scan done and there is no injury in brain but some muscle injury near the ear. When using Velix and blood thinners there is bleeding from ear if they are stopped there is no bleeding. So still can we continue the blood thinners even there is blood from ear or is there any risk
Would this be sufficient or will there be any stent/surgery required after this or only medicines are required. When i have asked he doctor till date the ECG is fine.
Yes continue blood thinners . Routine angiography at convenience
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
CT brain is required before giving velix , as if there in any evidence of bleeding velix cannot be given .
Yes injury to the chin will transiently push the bone in the ear cavity due to impact causing trauma to the ear canal , however as it's external and we will be able to keep a tab on the bleeding , yes velix and the blood thinners should be given amend continued as in terms of risk benefit ratio , the benefit is far more .
If by velix there is successful resolution by parameters of ecg and symptoms, you may continue with medication.
In ideal senerio if facility is available, and angiography on routine basis and depending in its result the call for stenting or surgery if at all needed should be the way forward .
However do continue the medications as prescribed
Hoping I could resolve your concerns .
Let me know if any clarification needed and I would be happy to help.
Do rate for other reference

I have attached the reports. Please review and let me know
Do go through the detailed information
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
Critical blockages grossly more than 70 % requires revasularisation that is , either stenting or bypass.
In today's era both gives equivalent results when done by an experienced doctor . The choice depends on the location of blockage (chat the ostium ) and Co morbidies like diabetes , lung or kidney problems .
Now ad you have already selected to go for stenting do proceed .
The best manufacturer would be abbot and metronics. Xience xpedition / alpine and resolute integrity and synergy are the latest stents , the price would be around 1 lakh for each stent .
About the minor blockages, your doctor is try mum that with adequate medication one can prevent it's progression .
However whether you do bypass / stent or treat medically the chances that the smaller blockages progress remains the same . So trust in god and regular medicine , lifestyle and diet would do the needful and your father ahold be just fine .
The echo reports shows evidence of decreased blood supply in at least two vessel .
The other blood report of liver is grossly nomral .If you can send me the angiography report can help you better
Hoping I could help you .
Let me know if any clarification needed and I would be happy to help .
