Question: 72 yo male still very fit and does his exercises with a erection dysfunction, has had triple by-pass 20yrs ago is on Avapro, Zocor, ezetrol
which medication would be better viagra or the injections?

Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
The two most common causes of Erectile Dysfunction in Males are Diabetic Neuropathy and Psycogenic Erectile dysfunction. You have not mentioned any history of diabetes but if he has diabetes then it might be the cause behind the erectile dysfunction he is having. I would also advise for him color Doppler of penile vessels.
In such situation I advise following :
1. To take Methylcobalamine supplemtation.
2. To use Sildenafil as on when required basis that is whenever sex is desired.
3. To cut down alcohol in case he takes as this reduces erection when sex is tried after consumption of alcohol.
4. To keep blood sugars well controlled.
At his age, i won't recommend injections for the purpose. It is better to consume Sildenafil as or on when required basis. This is my best opinion for you.
You should discuss with your doctor before acting upon any advise.
