Does Vitamin B6 Supplement Worsen RLS?
Question: For Bout 10 days I have taken a vitamin B6 supplement, 100mg daily. I did this because I read that it helps with macular degeneration. I also have restless leg syndrome. folic acid has done wonders for the RLS and during my annual check up at the Duke eye center, there has been a reverse in the severity of the M. Edge ration.
However, the RLS has been noticeabley worse for the past week or so and in thinking about it, The only change I had made was the B6 supplement.
Is this the possible reason? I have discontinued the B6 as of today, and have been drinking water to flust it out of my system. I will also avoid foods high in B6. Can this be the cause of the freight ending increase in my RLS and how long will it take to flust it out?

Brief Answer:
You have nailed the issue spot on, it is the B6 supplement
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. Please note that the side effects of B6 is among other things
1. Sensory nerve issues, this is why you feel like your RLS is worse
2. Unstable gait
3. Paresthesias and decreased sensation, mean that you feel some numbness, now this also could be what you perceive as worsening RLS
4. And the kicker is decreased folic acid levels in the body, so basically the folic acid that you have been taken is being eliminated/counteracted by the B6 you are taking.
I hope this helps and thank you for the detailed explanation to your query.
