Does Vitamin C Cause Skin Lightening?
Question: Hi doctor,
I want to take one Celin 500 mg and one Evion 400 or 600 mg, per day, for my skin to lighten and have a glow. i have heard that taking Evion 400 mg a day will show visible effects in 15 days. People say that taking vitamin c can lighten skin. Is it true?
I'm of wheatish tone, not too dark nor too light.
I want to try it. Is it advisable to take or will it have any side effects? How long can I take ?
(Please note that I had undergone myomectomy 25 days back. Right now Im taking Raricab(iron tab), Shelcal calcium tabs and becoszym vitamin tabs)

Brief Answer:
Not indicated for long-term.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.
I can most certainly understand your concerns.
I apologize for the delayed response owing to my hectic work schedule.
Long term ingestion of Celin and Vitamin E are not advisable as both have deleterious effects on liver and kidney. Renal stones and jaundice are known long-term side effects.
As a suitable substitution, I advise oral pills of Glutathione which are known to cause significant skin lightening.
Please check with your doctor if he shares my view and if can prescribe it to you.
Overall the effects of skin lightening with theses oral vitamin and amino acid pills are marginal and not up to expectations.
Post your further queries if any.
Thanking you.
