Hi Roshni,
A calcium deficiency is not responsible for your symptoms. Causes of your knee pain can be chondromalacia patellae, inflammatory arthropathy and medial plicae syndrome. A deficiency of calcium can only increase the problem but not cause it as such. But iron and calcium deficiency can contribute to thin nails.
You can take Tablet Shelcal 500 1 tablet daily, but it is not a substitute for a healthy and balanced diet. Your should be having atleast 500 ml of milk or yoghurt/curd in a day to meet your requirements.
There are no significant side effects of this drug.
However, it is important that you see an orthopaedician who can evaluate you and start the right treatment.
A diet chart can be made only after keeping your current dietary habits and lifestyle in mind.
Hope this helps.
