Hello Dr Mittal. Thank you for your response. Both of my parents had adult onset diabetes. While I am in good health, that is the one side effect I am concerned with. My cholesterol level without Vytorin is in the low 200's. With vytorin it is about 170. I have been on statins of one type for over 10 years. How high is the diabetes risk for someone in my position. ??

the possibility of high sugars is present specially since your parents are both diabetics. In fact even without the tablet you have a 50 % risk of developing diabetes.
I suggest you take the tablet for short term and control cholesterol on diet and exercise.
Some doctors in fact consider cholesterol as a risk of diabetes too.
