Question: I an currently taking a generic Xanax for mild anxiety and to sleep at night. I have been having strange mood swings that are not nomal for me...I am concerned if this is from taking this drug. I am a diabetic and take metformin and levemir. Are these perhaps interfering with me?

Brief Answer:
may be the xanax

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are no known interactions between these medications, it is possible that the xanax on its own is causing the symptoms that you are noting.

It can cause memory impairment, irritability, confusion, fear, loss of inhibitions , abnormal dreams in some persons.
It is also very rarely associated with issues with anger.

You may need to consider switching to either another agent in this class of meds or an alternative agent to help with your anxiety to see if this would help

Persons respond differently to medication.

It can sometimes take up to 3 days for a person to respond to the discontinuation of a medication so it can take a few days for a response

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
