Does Aging Affect Blood Quality?
Also, because of my chronic muscle pains after any exercise, I am wondering if my blood's slowly losing its vitality with age.
I read something once that said as blood ages, it loses its ability to...
With the introduction of much younger, fresher blood, into the older person's blood, the teen-age-young blood can spur and rejuvenate the older person's blood to start remembering and recalling its lost vitality.
ANY truth to this?
If I got a blood transfusion from, say, a 12 years old, or a 16 year old, would my blood be spurred on to regain its lost virility and vitality? Would my blood be more oxygen-carrying efficient and less likely to clot? If so, for how long?
Plavix and lipitor to continue to prevent stroke.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
There is no truth to the myth that introduction of younger fresher blood can spur and rejuvenate older persons blood to start remembering and recalling its lost vitality.
Transfusion of blood from younger person will not carry more oxygen and less likely to clot and transfusion from older person will carry the same oxygen carrying as with younger person.
To prevent stroke i will advise you to continue Plavix which contains clopidogrel which will prevent unwanted blood clots that can occur with certain heart or blood vessel conditions and prevent blood clots after a recent heart attack or stroke.
I will also advise you to continue Lipitor which contains atorvastatin which will reduce bad cholesterol called low density lipoprotein or LDL and triglycerides in your blood while increasing levels of good cholesterol called high density lipoprotein or HDL which in turn will lower the risk of stroke and heart attack.
