Does Alcohol Intake Increase The Serum Amylase And Lipase Level?

Question: My amylase was 988 and lipase was 2095 over the weekend while I was in hospital. I only drink one glass of wine a night. Could alcohol have caused this? Gallbladder was removed 3 yrs ago no blockage on CT. Obviously I don't plan to drink but how do I fix this?
Brief Answer:
chemical, structural or both
Detailed Answer:
there can be chemical irritation of the panccreas. many drugs including hctz (common bp med), alcohol. also cold viruses, mumps, and also elevated triglycerides... but they have to be very very high to do this. etc.
there can be physical problems such as gallstones but also previous scar tissue (from previous alcohol overuse most of the time) or tumors including cancerous and precancerous. You will want to have the area looked at until it is entirely back to normal.
It is certainly common to have some baslein problem (previous scarring) and have even a small amount of alcohol set off a pancreatitis flare.
