Does Anemia Lead To Clot Formation In Deep Veins?
Question: Admission of negligence by VA doctor allowing my hgb of 5.1 to go untreated. dvt in Wikipedia "dvt formation typically begins inside the valves of the calf veins where the blood is oxygen deprived" Science Daily..."low iron levels in blood raises blood clot risk new research suggests" So, it is as likely as not that the 5.1 hgb directly or indirectly caused the clots because it cannot be proven otherwise. Healthy before with no health risks.
Brief Answer:
As such anemia is not responsible for clot formation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You may have tendency to clot due to some other reason.
You are right that clot formation occur in deep vein. But anemia is not responsible. Polycythemia can leads to clot formation.
So its not due to anemia. However hemoglobin level of 5 is severe anemia. It may leads to other complications in heart like congestive cardiac failure. So it should be treated and should not left untreated that is sure.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

Do you not agree with the Wikipedia def'n or the Science Daily article? The low hgb deprived my blood of oxygen leading to my dvt and pe. "DVT formation begins where the blood is oxygen deprived" I need doctor corroboration that the 5.1 hgb , as likely as not led to immobility and clots. I had no pre-existing conditions and am XXXXXXX disabled now and on warfarin and iron.
Brief Answer:
Anemia is not a risk factor for DVT according to my opinion.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Anemia is not considered as risk factors for deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
Deep vein thrombosis may be due to some other reasons.
You may have tendency to clot like thrombophilia, obesity, immobility, surgery or malignancy. That is the main reason for clotting. Anemia is not a cause of deep vein thrombosis.
You can check various reference of causes of DVT.
Hope I have answered your question. If you still have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

You have not addressed the wikipediam def'n and the science Daily article. I feel my dvt and pe was caused by the 5.1 hgb and resulting immobility. the 5.1 deprived my blood of oxygen. I am perfectly healthy otherwise and not overweight. I have no prior tendencies. I have checked references..see Science Daily...................
Please answer the preceding question. VA admitted negligence led to a hgb of 5.1. Hgb of 5.1 robs my blood of oxygen and iron. I was in then icu for 3 days with numerous blood transfusions. Now XXXXXXX disabled. 5.1 hgb led to immobility and clots........

Brief Answer:
No its not directly responsible for clot formation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I can understand your concern. But anemia per say is not responsible for clot formation. You can go for various books and articles also. Check the cause & risk factor of DVT in wikipedia also. It has never mentioned that anemia is the risk factor. So interpretation is different.
Check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_vein_thrombosis. There is list of causes and risk factor. Anemia is never mentioned as risk factor.

I have never mentioned anemia. "DVT begins where the blood is deprived of oxygen". Oxygen is severely depleted by a hgb of 5.1. The VA admitted negligence in failure to act on this condition. I was in icu for 3 days and had numerous blood transfusions. So, it is as likely as not that the low hgb either directly or indirectly caused dvt and pe. How can you say what it is not when you cannot say what it is?
Brief Answer:
No its not directly caused DVT. Indirectly immobility can cause it.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Blood is deprived of oxygen due to low hemoglobin is anemia dear. You want to say that your low hb of 5.1 causes DVT. But it is not directly causing DVT.
Indirectly it may leads to immobility and that is risk factor for DVT. But low hb of 5.1 per se is not the cause.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
