Question: Hi My Mother is 76 YO and she had an Aortic valve replacement and ended with AFIB, she has been on Amiodorone, which she is being taken off of is 6 weeks and is on Norvasc for high blood pressure, lately I have noticed she is acting a little should I say goofy, would the Norvasc cause this? Also does AFIB caused by a valve problem end if there was no prior history of this?

suggest testing her electrolytes, and thyroid prof

Detailed Answer:
Hi there
I am Dr Mittal, MD
And I am going to try to help you with the query

First what exactly do you mean by "goofy"? Could you give us an example?

I would suggest testing her electrolytes, and thyroid profile. Their abnormailty can cause the issues of altered behavior. Checking sugars will be a good idea too.

Best of luck

Thanks, waiting on results of thyroid panel, due to Amiodorone use. Sugars are good, so are electrolytes. What do you think about the AFIB issue?

Brief Answer:
unlikely due to A Fib

Detailed Answer:
A Fib will not cause altered behavior on its own. However, a simple ecg/ekg may help
