Does Body Make Anitbodies When Suffering From Seroconversion Illness?
Question: When a person is going through seroconversion illness. Is their body making anitbodies to test positive for hiv. And how long will it take to test positive. And what's the window period.
Brief Answer:
Generally within 1month you shoudl be able to tell...Earlier with PCR!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
Seroconversion generally occurs within 3months at most using the most basic tests. With improved testing, a month is sufficient to detect these antibodies earlier. Seroconversion actually refers to the switch from seronegative to seropositive as antibodies are produced against the virus. Window period refers to the time that you may have the virus but low antibodies in the serum making detection not possible. It never exceeds 3months.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
No...You do not need to control again. There is nothing like late conversion
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
There is no seroconversion that would happen a year after exposure. If you are sick, it is either you are paranoid about your exposure and possible HIV or there is something else. It is no longer HIV we are looking at here.
There is no need for PCR. PCR has an advantage when you want to be very sure in the early weeks and not after several months.
I hope this helps. I wish you well.
