Does Cervical Lordosis Affect Pulmonary Functioning?
I work in the emergency department as a charge nurse, but have asked several different professionals and everyone has a different opinion or theory. I am just tired of nobody getting the whole picture. My lungs have always been immunocompromised, but I was free from any problems for last 3 years. No pneumonia., no bronchitis :-). Oct started with a sinus infection. Treated x 3, and battling uti's since feb last year. Nov, sudden onset of blood in urine and tremendous pain.went to 2 doctors. 1st dr said 'interstitial cystitis and I needed to eat his diet plan. So I waited another week bearing this horrible pain. Went to nephrologist. He scanned me and found 7 renal stones and 3 obstructing . Lithotripsy set up for next day. Awesome surgery, until 2 weeks post, sudden onset of dyspnea, they worked be up for a PE.it was negative ex for a low O2 sat at 83%. Back felt better to lean back with abd bowed out and head tilted backward . No I am having more frequent episodes of asthma, distended and sore, tight epigastric area, pain under right rib cage, poking intermittent . Mucus production way up but breathing neb treatments of minimal help. This is aggravating. I need to get back to me.
1 also take albuterol inhaler and neb treatment
As needed., Premarin 0.625mg, protonix 40mg, singulair 10mg, flexeril 10mg prn
Lordois neck related to cervical spondylosis/ doesnt affect lung function
Detailed Answer:
hello
Loss of cervical lordosis happens in cervical spondilytis commonly.pain and radiation ,pins and needle sensations are few of its signs and symptoms.A neck x ray/MRI shall confirm this. This shall also show which cervical vertebrae are involved in disease process.High cervical lesion at base of neck at and above C1,odontoid process -a bone process at base of skull at skull and neck junction if injured or dislocation of first cervical vertebra may lead to traction injury of brain stem with respiratory suppression. In your case there is no trauma history but neck x ray and MRI shall remove these doubts also
cervical spondylosis , as your case appears to be, is not affecting your pulmonary function, as inflammatory process is confined to cervical vertebrae, its facet joints,if there are osteophytes they may encroach nerve roots which may give local pain or radiation to shoulder, arms etc as has happenend to you
Your asthma or whatever your lung condition is -is not related to lordosis/cervical spondylosis
I would suggest consultation with orthpedic surgeon and wearing of cervical collar, isometric cervical exercises. Besides flexeril, a muscle relaxant, addition of actaminophen if doctor agrees. No NSAIDS or other anti-inflammatory because of kidney /bladder condition/asthma etc.
Treatment of lung and kidney/bladder should be carried on as per finding by your treating doctors
Singulair is good for asthma prevention
Premarin for estrogen deficiency states is good .It also prevents osteoporosis and remove estrogen deficiency related symptoms of dryness vaginitis, hot flushes, menopausal symptoms
protonix or pantaprazole for treating/preventing acid/stomach symptoms/ being on pain and muscle relaxant tabs.
I would suggest an abdomen and thorax ct-scan/ultrasound of abdomen for kidney bladder ureter and abdominal issues and lung issues
Best wishes and regards,
