Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had inguinal hernia repair surgery done 3 weeks ago. I took percocet for about a week. today is the beginning of the 4th week. about 5 days ago, I have noticed the urine was brown and cloudy. 2 days later, my urine turned to bloody red. I went to see an emergency room doctor and she suspected renal stone and a CT is scheduled tomorrow. My question is: can percocet cause hematuria or renal stone?
One of the rare side effects of over dosage of Percocet is kidney damage. Yet, hematuria or renal stones are not usually related to Percocet. You might have pre existing renal stones or developed due to any other cause, which will be detected on CT.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Fahum Akhter, General & Family Physician
