My throat was bothering me so I went to my doctor. He said it was thrush. He gave me amoxicillin and antifungal suspension. I later came back for a cbc and a Hiv test which both came back normal. I explained to my doctor that I had unprotected sex about 17 and half years ago. Than later I payed him a visit and he said I don't have any stds. I also took a sedrate. Which was normal. He said if I had any stds it would have been elevated. Should I take a std test?
? Please advise
? Please advise
Brief Answer:
not indicative of std
Detailed Answer:
HI
Sorry about the late reply
The sedrate or ESR is an inflammatory marker that goes up in the presence of significant infection or inflammation and would be elevated in the presence of an STD infection.
In addition, in terms of gonorrhea, the incubation period is 2 to 14 days. This is the time from infection to the onset of symptoms. This incubation period can vary slightly from one person to the next and a few persons may not have symptoms but it would not be as long as 17 years.
The other std would not affect the throat.
You can consider std testing if you want but not based on these symptoms. You can do it if you want to know your status in general but nothing above indicates std.
Please feel free to ask anything else
