Does Complex Carbohydrate In Corn Starch Get Absorbed As Starch Form In The Body?
Thanks and Best Regards
Unlikely
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Corn starch is a complex carbohydrate which gets broken down by the action of amylases in the small intestine and converted into Glucose. It is never absorbed as starch but as glucose.
The glucose is metabolised by the body to give energy. The excess glucose is stored as glycogen in the liver and muscle tissues or is converted into fat. The same glycogen is broken down to release the glucose. The fats are also utilised to produce energy.
The amount of corn starch in the tablets would have undergone the same process and it is highly unlikely that the glucose from it would have remained in the body for so many years.
