Does Constipation Worsen GERD?

Question: Could being constipated be causing my GERD to happen?
Brief Answer:
Constipation does not increase GERD
Detailed Answer:
You are concerned about constipation as increasing your GERD and the answer is no. Since constipation is from the lower GI tract slowing down and the esophagus is in the upper GI tract there is nearly several feet of intestines between the two areas. As I stated in my previous answer I think you should seek medical attention to determine the reason for your weight loss and increased GERD.

Brief Answer:
Good weight loss
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for clarifying you medical history. With your weight loss that will reduce your symptoms of GERD. But with the weight loss you may have more constipation due to increased activity and diet changes. I Recommend that you try using a fiber laxative like metamucil or a stimulant laxative like miralax. Using this products daily will help regulate your bowels and allow for better bowel movements.
Keep up the weight loss until your BMI is in the low 20s.
I hope this answers your question. If you any further question please ask
