Brief Answer:
It is ok to give relent syrup
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query; it suggests that your daughter maybe suffering from the acute otitis media.
In this condition it is ok to give relent syrup. It helps control excessive secretions. I also advise
1. Xylometazoline paediatric nasal drop 2 drops three times a day. It helps with blocked nose.
2. Hot fomentation of the ear three times a day for atleast five minutes each.
3. Feeding the baby in sitting position i.e. head up position.
Let me know if you have doubts.

Doctor,
Thanks for your reply. I have few more questions.
My daughter 's ear infection is repeated several times in the last 20 days. Every time my daughter suffers for 2-3 days. Then it clears. After 5 days it comes back. Do we need to give any antibiotic?
Is there any risk of this infection spreading to brain? Is it more common to get the brain and ear bone getting infected?
Will the antihistamines like relent syrup dry up and make the phlegm in the ear into a glue, which will complicate the illness?
Kindly clarify on my above doubts doctor.

Brief Answer:
You need to give antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your follow up query; and for your kind information you need to give proper antibiotic course to your daughter after consulting with your ENT specialist but no need to give antibiotic course frequently such as after every 5 days every time.
Rarely this infection spread to brain in this age group but for better management consult the ENT specialist for otoscopic examination of the ear.
Your daughter are on good treatment, no need to worry about the glue ear.
